Think of this as a melting pot of otaku culture. I plan to talk video games anime, music (mostly asian), manga, on occasion I may even resort to movies and tv shows from the same continent as I’m from. Old shows new shows, shows that aren’t out yet… doesn’t matter. I wouldn’t call it a review blog so much than my impressions on things and stuff I think is interesting.
About Moe Me
Name: I’m sure I used to have one of those.
AKA: UTK, Kotatsu, underthekotatsu and now Uthek because UTK, what I wanted to use, was too short and in capitals. -_-; Yeah now the ‘it’s nice and warm’ makes a lot of sense.
We won’t get into where that names from… it involved a ‘cat’ and something by random translator. Odds are if you recognize the name you’ll know why I won’t say more.
Other Stuff
I just realized my whole NEET description no longer applies. I’m currently working in the construction field. More drywalling than anything else but we’ve also done some linoleum and minor plumbing since I signed on a month or so ago. Yeah I know, it’s boring dirty and keeps me away from things I like BUT it’s money… and it’s not exactly difficult. After the first few weeks… going from anitaku lifestyle (all day sitting down) to this (all day standing) is kind of… painful for a while. And I seriously advise you not to start doing something where the only person you’ll work with has been doing the job longer than you’ve been alive. You’ll feel like such an idiot and I’ll shut up now because no-ones going to read this. :p

There is a war my friends, a war raging long and hard through the depths of the internets. The war between subs and dubs. I’m on the side of subs, which means I dislike dubs, obviously. Now how could I be against something that localizes an awesome show for me? Well that’s why I dislike it, it’s localized. They like to take out jokes, reword sentences and my biggest problem is they hire crap voice actors. Sure some of them are decent, but that’s a whole two out of the hundred or so we have. I just find the overall skill level way below par, along with the quality. Then there’s the whole censorship thing they like to do which pisses me off beyond belief… but they’ve slowly stopped doing that. Oh and they like to change the target audience… nothing worse than your favourite show being brought to your country and all of a sudden targeted at 11 year old girls… when you know for a fact it’s targeted at men… maybe slightly perverted men but men all the same. Again they’re slowly stepping away from the animated = for kids mindset recently. But that doesn’t make the travesties of the past any less scornful, yes I’m looking at you ‘Cardcaptors’. It’s not all their fault though, Japan’s got entire schools dedicated to teaching voice acting… we’ve got… well we’ve got nothing. If someone can make two voices they can be a voice actor… even when voice number two is them trying to use a deep voice and still obviously the same person. My opinion is Japan should stop selling america the rights to make dubs of shows, hire some of the fansub groups, or even sell subtitle rights TO fansub groups and let the shows be released that way. We’d lose a lot of the annoying fans who think they know everything because they’ve seen all of Inuyasha and whatnot… and god willing things like Naruto will never happen again, BELIEVE IT! So stupid… why’d they even do that? With the skill they’ve shown at adding and removing frames of animation you’d think they could remove the parts where he says dattebayo… which does not mean ‘believe it’ it means absolutely nothing his character just talks like that to be different, you heard it, they even bothered to ‘translate’ made up words… I always get into rant mode when this comes up. <_<;; What’s bad is I pretty much only use this one argument… the Naruto bit’s new though… look at that fresh content just for you.

The ESRB (entertainment software rating board). Because they’re an initially optional service that’s gotten to the point where they’re really not optional anymore. But a group of random people deciding what is and is not suitable for a stereotyped age range pisses me off. I do realize though that they can’t add a ‘certain individuals may or may not apply to these ratings’. I’d just like to ask them one question… How does cross dressing, a scientist locking a talking cat thing in a cage with a girl and expecting them to breed… not qualify as ’suggestive content?’ *points at FF7.
FYI: The girl in the banner is named Youmu Konpaku… she’s half ghost and can swing a sword at 1/4 the speed of light…. and she has two swords… She’s from Touhou; some of the best games you’ll ever frikking play.
