Cirno once a day keeps the… on second thought let’s leave the rest of that unsaid.

I can’t help it I’m Canadian, I have a built in affinity for cold things. So my apparently random onset of Cirno fanboyism should have been expected. Of course if you take into account that prior to this my favourite character was Youmu <.< Maybe it is a little strange. :p Anyway, have some Cirno because I still haven’t watched any anime to blab about.

Another treasure from danbooru

December 14, 2008

I was digging through danbooru the other day and found soemthing so awesome I’ve now got it everywhere I can put it. Twice in a couple places. (PSP, has the .mp3 and the video)
Now I should explain a bit. This isn’t a ‘music video’ in the mtv version of the word. This just happens to be a flash containing music, a picture for a background and some text that scrolls by. And is in moon runes.
The song itself is… well. <.< One needs to be able to tolerate a cute sounding girl or two singing about exceedingly perverted things. Done with her brother. The song is, for lack of a better word, obscene. Exceedingly so, which is probably why it’s so funny. Or perhaps I just like the engrish ‘fellatio fakku!’ about thirty seconds in. Or maybe the part where they pseudo rap and half of it is dirty sound effects.
Seriously, not a song to play around a normal member of society, presuming of course they have a grasp of japanese. If they don’t though crank it up and grin like a Cheshire cat because they have no idea. Or you could tone it down a bit and play Tsurupettan… or both.
The lyrics to the song are… well. <.< I’ll sum it up with one line later in that goes “Onii-chan we can have a baby.” And that’s a tamer chunk of the song.
So here’s the song.

I have no idea who it’s by or what it’s called. I wish I did. Freaking hilarious, not that I condone any of what goes on in the song… at least not with *my* sister. ;p Someone else’s though… or if she’s just calling me onii-chan. <.<

Merry 11 days until christmas.

Retro letdown/ Ratings rant

September 3, 2008

You know what, going back and playing one of those games you thought would be awesome but never got to play… yeah bad idea. You wind up like me after just playing Bushido Blade 2. -.-;

The game, if you never heard of it, was (obviously) second in a line of 3D fighters by Squaresoft. Yeah, pre squenix (That’s a rant for another day) it was for the psx and well I remember thinking dude this game would be so awesome. But I didn’t own a psx at the time and when I got around to buying one it was only about a year or so before the ps2 came out. I did get some of the need to have games mind you. FF7, FF Tactics Capcom vs SNK pro …and that pretty much sums it up. :p

Anyway the premise of Bushido Blade games is to be as realistic as possible. Whichmeans if you put a sword through a guys face he dies; Fight over. Now the second one did away with leg damage apparently. I’ve heard that in the first if you took a slash or two to the legs you hobbled around and fought from a crouched position. Anyway through the course of Story mode you fight numerous random ninja’s from a Rival School. Allow me to pause for a giggle fit at that joke. … … okay. You eventually get to what I thought was the most annoying part on my first play through. I suppose you need to keep in mind how I do things. I don’t read manuals, so even if I had one I wouldn’t have looked at it. I get in game and push buttons and we go from there. I may later flip through the manual but it’s not the first thing I do. Partially because my way is more fun and the rest because I think manuals stink, in a literal sense. Whatever they print that stuff with man…

Anyway (again) You fight a chick with a machien gun. You have a sword of some form, possibly a yari or a naginata (those two are dependant on what school your selected character is allied to) She shot me, and shot me and shot me and eventually I had to resort to training mode and moving and pushing buttons until I found out holding R1 makes you run. After hacking and slashing my way back to her, much faster I might add. Well she was no threat… You do more random running and stabbing and slashing and general causing of bodily harm resulting in mortal injuries before coming to a guy I can only presume is the final boss. (I have no idea what time frame this is supposed to take place in as you’ve got people with swords running around killing eachother and still machine gun girl and some disco dude…)

And this is where I got mad. You hit him and… he disappears and appears somewhere else. And you can do that over and over and over and he doesn’t even take damage. In order to hurt him you have to hit him and then after he teleports to some random location you have to hit him again before he recovers or he just teleports again. Not too bad as far as final bosses go except he can still kill you with one hit. You have no block button and about the only way to defend yourself is to kill the other dude first or rig it up so your weapons collide… or run like a rabbit.

My major malfunction? What the hell is the point in a game touting realistic swordplay isf you have people in the storyline who don’t follow the rules of realistic swordtofaceology? I can comprehend the desire to make the final boss a toughie. I don’t think that should mean violating the base concept of your game though.

That said I’d love a Bushido Blade 3 for the ps2 or 3. As long as they give it a rating above teen. I want a bloody messy de-limbifying game out of this.  Like Soul Calibur meets Blade of Darkness. If the guys arm comes off you can pick it up in your off hand and club him with it.

This will be more first use of the ‘more’ button… Teh rest of my complaining which will be a totally different topic will be below.

Due to lazyness;

August 16, 2008

We’ll be talking about another webcomic. Well, not entirely pure lazyness.  I’ve been busy playing with the Wii I bought and re-watching Psych… which has caused me to go back and resume watching all those shows I started once upon a time and stopped partway through for one reason or another. Chuck and Reaper as primary examples. And then a few shows I thought would be good but never got around to watching, The Shield, for yet another example.

I’m way behind on the anime spectrum of things and well that’s pretty normal.

So… without further ado I’ll be linking you to Minus.

Now unlike Flipside which I talked about last post (or Shadowlark Symphony which I suppose I blurbed about just a tad) Minus has no real ’storyline’ per say. Later in the comic story arcs string together for three or four pages but there’s still no real overlying storyline. The comic deals with Minus a little girl who can do anything she wants, quite literally. Comic gags range from sidewalk chalk drawing coming to life to well… even more bizarre things. Most of the panels are funny, the ones that aren’t are either cute, or just random tangents funny because they go as long as they do.

The art in this is a good portion of why I started with it. I clicked a link into the webpage and saw the artwork and nearly died. It’s something you don’t see anymore. It’s hand drawn, on paper… and then painted… with watercolours… at least it looks like watercolour to me. I’ll be the first to admit my artistic knowledge doesn’t flow very far in the paint areas. Heck my art knowledge is meh at best.  Anyway, go read, hopefully you enjoy it.

Howdy.

August 9, 2008

Not really an anime related update but one nonetheless.

Because in the last while the only anime I’ve watched is Vexille, which technically doesn’t count and then that whole Batman Gotham Knight thing, which is ‘technically’ anime.

Anyway this post is all about a webcomic I’ve followed off and on for years.

Flipside
Basically it follows three main characters around. Maytag, yes I know she’s named after a household appliance, be quiet, Bernadette and the new.. sort of Crest. I call Crest new because when I originally started reading this web comic he didn’t exist. The artist got to a point and said hell with it I’m doing it over… and now we have Crest… and Bernadette, my favorite character (DFC, scars AND dual wielding swords?!) I’ll warn you know some of the pages are NSFW (not safe for work) as there’s nudity; Not much though, boobs, the odd ass… Also a couple of the main characters are… …well one’s bi and the other one’s a lesbian so… There goes pretty much all my attraction to Bernadette out the window. T^T

The artist’s also got a few side comics I really liked which I don’t think ever got finished. The one’s a sort of… zombie movie/comic and the otherone was spawned by the Evil Dead trilogy, and was awesome… short and unfinished but awesome. But the main comic is still going, at least afaik, I was away for a while and just picked it up again. I do that, can’t stand the waiting between updates. I’d rather go without for a while and then have a whole at once than the one page a week thing. -.-;

If only one of the other webcomics I *LOVED* a character design in would pick up again. T-T Shadowlark Symphony we miss you! Mostly for Sakura but a little bit for Eve too. Comic had a great story the first time around, even better the second time… and then it just stopped… five years ago.. wow makes me feel old.

Wootness

August 4, 2008

The other day I wandered into one of those… I hesitate to call it a pawnshop but in all technicality that’s at least part of what it is. My brother bought himself the base guts of a used computer there for 5$and so I in my psu-less state went in and asked if I could buy a power supply for a fiver. Which I did and it sat around for… about a week before I pulled my old one out and slapped this one in there. It’s been running for the last… five or six hours with no problems so I think we’re good. Which means I can watch and blab about a whole lot more anime since I’m not restricted to just whatever I can burn off or watch between waking up and the owner of the other computer to want to sleep.

Plus I’m back on good old windows XP.

Found something on a Danbooru raid.

June 16, 2008

Well that should whet your appetite for this absurdly awesome version Miku… I have no idea when or why but DO WANT! I was lurking around an irc channel and someone mentioned danbooru and ads, something I’d never seen before (thank you lolifox, for blocking that crap) and I started two day raid, yesterday I just wandered around comparing the place to moe.imouto and then stumbled across brs miku and proceeded to grab every picture I could possibly find of her. (Today has consisted of mostly Saber searching, some Vita, some Illya and now Agrias…)

Apparently it spawned from a niconico video. (youtube version for the nico-less) Checking the comments there’s a claim that it’s not an alt. Miku but an original character. Looking at her though either it is an alt. or very heavily inspired by here.

Anime Home Planet Blog

June 6, 2008

Okay so pretty much everything I’ve ever posted winds up pinging me back from this place (http://blog.animehomeplanet.com)… something I can’t quite comprehend because for some reason absolutley everything I post gets put on there wuth a different name and links back to here… Which I find kind of annoying… It’s not just my stuff that winds up there though there’s stuff from all over the place, it’s like some big webspider archive for any posts that happen to mention specific keywords. I’ve got nothing at all to do with them and it kind of annoys me a little… of course it’s also sent traffic my way once or thrice so I suppose it’s not all bad. ;p

Finally did it.

March 25, 2008

I said I’d get around to it. Linked off site because for some reason the other two refuse to let me insert them as thumbnails. Both wallscrolls were 21$ (canadian) after taxes and the figure, (whose hair has been likened to spaghetti) was 40$. That may seem high for what I got but, no, worse has been sold for much much more. Besides it looks better irl, in my opinion anyway.Okay and i tried to insert them as clickable thumbnails but obviously I have no idea what I’m doing because it didn’t work. Well now this works, thankfully. No idea what it freaked out about, maybe they were too high res, the wallscroll shots *are* 1mb a piece…

I know I know.

March 24, 2008

It’s not my fault. I finished of SG-1 and then discovered Atlantis and started watching it just to say I did. Now I’m genuinley interested in it. -_-;

However tomorrow is now declared marathon day and I’ll try to catch up a bit on everything.

And I have batteries for my camera now if I can find it, that is.
